The Buffalo Bills had an unfortunate trend over the course of training camp which bled into their first preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts: Injuries.

From Josh Allen getting hurt, multiple times, to Spencer Brown going down, Cam Lewis was forced to miss some time, with players like Damien Harris and Dion Dawkins also getting shaken up.

In their preseason game against the Colts, a slew of players went down which included DJ Dale, and the more scary injury was Tommy Doyle. Both players provide important depth at key positions.

In the contest, Doyle grabbed his knee before going to see the trainers and then not returning to the game. For Dale, he left the game in the second half due to a rib/back injury and also didn't return. For Doyle, there were concerns that his injury would be devastating as the former fifth-round pick has been limited to only 12 games in two seasons and missed almost the entire year last year due to an ACL injury.

McDermott allowed the Bills Mafia to breathe easy as it was reported that both players only had minor injuries and they both had returned to practice this week.

If you remember, injuries derailed this team last season. Early in camp, Jordan Poyer missed some time that bled into the regular season. After the Bills' home opener against the Colts, Micah Hyde missed the season. Allen had his own injury, Von Miller was lost for the season, and so much more.

Injuries happen, and Sean McDermott has been fantastic about his next-man-up type mentality, but the team needs depth, especially looking at the trenches on both sides of the football.

For today, for right now, after what seemed like weeks of bad news, we finally got a positive injury update. Just yesterday, Tyler Matakevich was activated off the PUP list, leaving only Miller remaining.

Here's hoping the team can have a full bill of health heading into their next preseason game (*knock on wood*)
