The Buffalo Bills lost one of the offensive linemen as OT Brandon Shell announced his retirement. I previously wrote about his abrupt departure and what it means for Josh Allen and the offense.
At the end of my article, I mentioned that I wouldn't be surprised if Brandon Beane immediately picked up the phone and got to work. Well, it appears that's exactly what happened.
The team brought in two offensive linemen looking to join the roster. While it's an uphill battle, the Bills front office is wasting no time to try and fill an important position with key depth.
Aaron Wilson reported that the Buffalo Bills brought in Quinton Barrow and Garrett McGhin for a workout after placing Shell on the reserve-retired list.
Barrow is an offensive tackle prospect who played collegiately at Grand Valley State, a Division II prospect. The massive 6'5" 322lb lineman is a raw talent and hasn't been able to showcase his abilities enough to stay on a roster. If anyone knows how to make a project turn into a starter, it's Brandon Beane. Still, Barrow has his work cut out for him if he hopes to make the roster.
McGhin, surprisingly, has a history with the organization. McGhin has jumped around the league but in 2019 was picked up by the Bills. He was later placed on IR and then waived and released before joining the Panthers, back to the Bills, and then ultimately joining the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants before testing his luck in the XFL.
McGhin only has two games with zero starts in the NFL. In the XFL, McGhin played and started in all 10 games, making it so front offices across the league had to take a look his way.
We'll be surprised if either play makes the roster, but stranger things have happened. Go earn your position and shock the world.
Bills’ Josh Allen intervenes in heated moment by yelling from the podium
The Buffalo Bills had a scary incident at practice which resulted in helmets swinging. Immediately after, Allen had to shut down another skirmish from the podium.
