The Buffalo Bills need to provide Josh Allen with as many weapons as humanly possible, and it would be a bonus if those players could be ones with which he has familiarity.

Among the Bills Mafia, wide receiver Brandin Cooks could be considered a fan-favorite. He made an immediate impact in the passing game after being brought in late in the 2025 season, after Buffalo failed to make a move at the trade deadline. While the box score didn’t light up the league, you could feel his impact watching them play.

Cooks registered five catches for 114 yards in five games played, averaging 22.8 yards per reception and always seeming to show up when the team needed it most. Cooks was a solid contributor, and the fan base has been vocal about wanting him back.

Brandon Beane opens up about potential reunion with WR Brandin Cooks

General manager Brandon Beane spoke directly about Cooks during the NFL owners meetings, offering a glimpse of what’s going on behind the scenes. No more rumors, it’s official that they’ve been in communication.

“Have had conversations not only with his agent but with him,” Beane said. “Really love what he did for us.”

Cooks would be a welcome (and needed) addition to the wide receiving room

The best part about a potential reunion? It wouldn’t break the bank.

According to Over The Cap, Buffalo has $12.2 million to work with in cap space. Remember, they still need operating costs for the regular season as well as money to sign all the draft picks, and that’s not all. Signing the 12-year veteran wouldn’t cost significant money, and it just feels like a no-brainer at this point.

Don’t get it confused, even if Buffalo were to sign Cooks, they wouldn’t be done filling out that room. There’s space for several players to come in and compete for a starting job, but Cooks’ addition would immediately raise the level of that room. Beane also pointed out that the trade for DJ Moore won’t stop them from drafting a wide receiver high in the upcoming draft.

.At this point, anything is possible. The likely outcome feels like it will be Cooks signing with the organization after the draft, if at all. At the moment, it feels like free agency has died down, and now everyone is waiting in eager anticipation for the big day.

The anticipation could very well include a reunion. And if Buffalo finds a way to bring Cooks back into the fold, it’s a low-risk move that gives Allen another trusted option. And one that could quietly make a big difference. (He caught the ball against the Broncos).
