Bills bring back a familiar face for a much-needed reinforcement ahead of Week 4 showdown vs. Saints
The Buffalo Bills are shaking up their practice squad with the latest team signing.
The Buffalo Bills are coming off a thrilling victory over the Miami Dolphins on “Thursday Night Football.” The Bills sit atop the AFC East after a Sunday slate of games saw the New England Patriots and New York Jets lose their matchups.
Ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the New Orleans Saints, the team brought in a much-needed reinforcement to the practice squad, with a familiar face returning to Western New York.
After losing guard Dan Feeney to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo was down to only two offensive linemen on its practice squad: Travis Clayton (International Pathway Program) and Kendrick Green. The team signed offensive lineman Nick Broeker to the practice squad. Getting some depth at the position with someone the organization already has ties with is a win-win for Buffalo. Broeker is an excellent practice squad addition at the early stages of the season.
Fast facts about Nick Broeker
- Played under Jake Thornton at Ole Miss, the grandson of Bills legend Billy Shaw
- Won the 2022 Kent Hull Trophy for the best offensive lineman in the state of Mississippi
- Didn’t miss a game in his four years in Oxford (48 career games)
- In 2022, he played 994 snaps at left guard and 20 at left tackle without allowing a sack
- Played in 12 career games with the Houston Texans
Nick Broeker’s history in the NFL
Broeker was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL draft. He was unable to see the field and was waived by Buffalo as part of its roster cuts in August of 2023. Immediately after, he was claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans. During two seasons in Houston, he appeared in nine total snaps on offense, with 52 snaps on special teams.
He was waived by the Texans in May 2025 and joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he was waived just three months into his tenure. He was then claimed off waivers by the Dallas Cowboys, before being waived just weeks later as part of the team’s roster cuts.
