Entering the offseason, there were numerous needs for Brandon Beane to take care of. He came in with a to-do list of extensions to get done, having knocked out three of the top five priorities by signing Greg Rousseau, Khalil Shakir, and Terrel Bernard all through 2029. He also put together a new deal for Josh Allen, and has begun free agency by attacking direct positions of need, most recently with the signing of veteran pass rusher Joey Bosa.
After his recent moves, Beane now has a clear runway to go after one position in particular in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The clear way to go? Defensive tackle, and this draft has plenty of them. Derrick Harmon and Kenneth Grant, in particular, are expected to be late first to early second round draft picks, and both possess elite athleticism, size, and the ability to disrupt opposing offensive linemen. Both of them have tons of ability in the pass rush as well, not just as run stuffing big guys that clog the middle. Beane should be freed up to pick his preferred option and try to do what it takes to make it happen, even if that requires a trade up.
If both options are off the board, there are still plenty of other ways Beane can go. Wide receiver is still a position worth considering, but the top option after defensive tackle should likely be corner. Christian Benford, who is probably next up for an extension, is the locked in top corner, but what happens outside of him is very much open for conversation. As the defense is expected to move to more of a press-man defense, finding a physical and rangy corner that can emerge into the team's No. 2 corner should be a big priority.
