The rumor mill is working overtime this morning. Las Vegas Raiders superstar wide receiver Davante Adams apparently might be on the move.

This all started with a post on Sports Illustrated's Instagram page that reads "Davante Adams is likely to be gone if the Raiders get what they want in a trade, per @michael_fabiano_." On that post, it was liked by a pretty important figure in this conversation – Raiders' head coach Antonio Pierce.

On Kay Adams' "Up & Adams" (that's a lot of Adams), the wide receiver answered some questions about the social media drama.

"So this big story happens, where they think your coach – or your coach did, I actually don't know – likes this post about you getting traded. I guess my first question is, how quickly, How soon did you hear from coach," Kay Adams asked.

"They haven't. I haven't heard from him. I haven't talked to him, so I've been, yeah, I don't know. I don't really know exactly what that was about. Obviously, you know, social media is a beast, so it's a lot of people out there that saw it, and they're wondering what's going on, and people reaching out. And, yeah, I haven't spoke to him."

Kay Adams went on to say that she's surprised by that, and that she would think the coach would clarify the situation with the star receiver.

"Honestly, is hard to comment on," Davante continued. "I'm sure you would imagine as such, but it's one of those situations where I just keep my head down and keep doing my thing and, you know, let the let the chips fall where they may as it pertains to that. But I haven't – there's been no communication with anybody from the team since that became a thing. But, you know, it's kind of just like the weekly 'what's up with Tay' thing. You know, it's always some sort of drama. But at the end of the day, 1-7 (referring to his jersey number) doesn't create any of it, so people can say what they want, but I'm just chilling, trying to be the model for, you know, not stirring the pot and just just locking in and doing what I got to do."

Adding fuel to the fire – there are reports coming out confirming that the Raiders are beginning to contact other teams to gauge their interest in a trade.

Should the Bills trade for Davante Adams?

The mantra surrounding this offense ever since Stefon Diggs was traded has been "everybody eats." It's an offense that, at it's best, keeps defenses guessing with plenty of pre-snap motion and a quarterback that is content distributing the ball to whomever is open.

The Bills are coming off their worst performance of the year in their 35-10 beatdown by the Baltimore Ravens, which saw the offense struggle to put up points while the defense was getting run over by Derrick Henry and the Ravens offense. Commentators during the game were quick to point out things like "this is where the Bills miss Diggs."

I wouldn't jump that far off one game.

It might seem obvious to go after a star wide receiver, but that's exactly what this team doesn't need. Diggs, for better or worse, created off-the-field drama with his behavior, and the team moved forward with a fresh start.

There's no denying that Adams is one of, if not the, best wide receivers of his generation. His numbers speak for themselves. But adding a wide receiver that has expectations of a high target share to an offense that doesn't operate that way would be a recipe for disaster. It would completely change the dynamic, and reintroduce drama to a team that is essentially drama-free.

Even if the Bills decided that they did want to trade for Adams, what would it cost? Valuable draft picks? General Manager Brandon Beane has done a great job stocking the cupboard for the future, and depleting that for a veteran wide receiver that's well past the back nine of his career makes little sense.

This all goes without even discussing the financial impact. Adams currently carries a cap hit this season north of $25 million, and the Bills only have $3.6 million available. It isn't feasible for Buffalo to create that space.

Past this year, Adams would have two more years on his contract, counting a whopping $44 million each year against the cap. That's quarterback money in his age 33 and 34 season.

It's easy to get carried away at the thought of giving Allen a superstar wide receiver, but this isn't a move that Bills fans should entertain.
