Buffalo enters the offseason with plenty of questions on their roster, and it looks like wide receiver could be a position that they need to address.
After trading for Amari Cooper last year, it remains to be seen as to whether or not the Bills are going to bring him back going forward. The veteran could potentially have a price point on the market that general manager Brandon Beane isn't willing to pay.
If Cooper is in fact gone, then the Bills will certainly need to add to their receiver room. There's one element in particular that the group is currently lacking — speed. Marquise Brown fits that mold, and apparently Josh Allen is quite interested in the possibility.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, there's belief in the Chiefs' building that Allen has wanted to play with Brown for quite a while. Honestly, he would be a perfect fit for what this offense needs.
No, Brown isn't going to come in and set the league on fire, posting absurdly high stats, but that isn't what the Bills offense is predicated on. It's based on timing, on the "everybody eats" mantra that proved to be much more than just lip service throughout this last season.
Brown started his career with Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, posting 2,361 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns over his first three seasons. That's more than respectable production.
After leaving Baltimore for Arizona, his production took a noticeable downturn in an offense that was dealing with longtime injuries to quarterback Kyler Murray. The expectation was that he was going to be a difference maker this last season with the Kansas City Chiefs, but due to injury, he only started one game.
Now that he's fully healthy, Brown, who ran a blazing 4.27 second 40-yard dash at the Oklahoma Pro Day in 2019, is expected to command a healthy market. He would bring a speed and a downfield threat that the Bills currently do not have, which would do wonders for creating even more throwing windows for Allen to find. The Bills should be in on trying to get Brown if the price is right.
