James Cook can do something no Buffalo Bills player has done in almost five decades and there's a decent chance it happens on Sunday

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook was primed for a major breakout this season, and he's more than lived up to the hype. Entering Sunday's game against the Jets, the running back has logged 928 rushing yards and an outstanding 14 rushing touchdowns, a mark that is tied with Baltimore's Derrick Henry for the league lead.

Going against the Jets on Sunday, Cook has an opportunity to put himself at the top of the the franchise leaderboards.

Cook only had four career rushing touchdowns before this year. Even though I predicted a big breakout for the explosive playmaker before the season, even I didn't foresee 14 rushing touchdowns through 15 games played. Cook has also added 258 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns to his tally.

This weekend's matchup with the New York Jets, which is a monumental game for the prospects of the Bills and their playoff seeding, gives Cook a great opportunity to break some records.

With one touchdown on Sunday, Cook would tie Josh Allen's 15 rushing touchdowns as the second-most in a season in Bills history. With two rushing touchdowns, Cook would tie a team record of 16 rushing touchdowns set by O.J. Simpson in 1975.

The Bills are playing for the No. 2 seed in the AFC this weekend. If they pull off a victory, it doesn't matter what happens in Week 18. This would allow them to rest some players and create a mini-bye before hosting a home playoff game in the Wild Card round.

The Jets are a weak opponent against the run, ranking 24th in EPA against the rush, and rank 25th in rushing touchdowns allowed. Let James cook.
