Stephen Ross is the owner of the Miami Dolphins, but in the first half of Thursday Night's game, you could make a strong argument that Buffalo Bills running back James Cook was the one wearing that title.

On the way to a 31-10 runaway victory, Cook touched the ball only six times in the first half, but he turned that into 77 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns, including a 49-yard touchdown run where Cook showed off his incredible speed.

Cook is deserving of all the superlatives. Here are a few of them.

Cook was primed for a breakout this season, even with the addition of Ray Davis in the fourth round, who provides a great complement to Cook in the backfield.

Offensive Coordinator Joe Brady had big words about Cook in the preseason.

"He looks different. He’s stronger, he’s more put together. You can tell he put in a lot of work. It’s important to him and so I’m excited to just see him continue to evolve and get better," Brady said back in July.

What we saw from Cook in the first half was one of the most explosive playmakers in the league. Importantly, Cook also saw a carry at the goal line, something that was notably missing from his workload last season. He promptly took that handoff and walked in for his second touchdown of the day.

"We called duo on our first first play there in the second quarter, and he took it, what was it 40, 50 yards? I handed it off and put my hands up. I knew he was gonna be in," Josh Allen said after the game. "He's been begging to get some goal line runs, I'm tired of stealing all those down there, and he's tired of it. So I'm so proud of him. He just continues to work hard and he's gotten better every single year. And shout out to our O-line, they played a heck of a game."

Cook, coupled with an offensive line that is opening up massive holes for him to run through and a mentality by Josh Allen to take what defenses are giving them, is changing the way that this offense works, for the better.

The Bills are now 2-0 despite all the injuries, and are answering the call in a massive way. All aboard the hype train.
