'He's a damn good football player' – Josh Allen points out rookie playmaker that's been key to Bills' success

There has been a ton of talk ever since the 2024 NFL Draft about Buffalo deciding to not only pass on wide receiver Xavier Worthy, but trade the pick to the Chiefs for them to select him. I get it — the Chiefs have been the obstacle the Bills can't get past, and giving them their choice of weapon seems like a bold move.
Apparently the Bills had their eyes set on Keon Coleman, and they stuck to their board, getting extra capital in the process. Remember, as a part of that trade, the Bills got the third-round draft pick that they used on defensive tackle DeWayne Carter, who unfortunately is going to be sidelined for a few weeks with a wrist injury after a promising start to his rookie season.
For Coleman, a 6'3" 215 lbs wide receiver with a basketball background, the Bills were adding a physical, athletic, jump-ball wide receiver on the outside the likes of which Josh Allen has never played with. In fact, during training camp, Allen commented on having to learn to throw the ball higher, saying he essentially could never throw it too high for Coleman.
The rookie has had some flashes throughout the season, but the last two weeks have seemingly seen Coleman turn a corner, putting together consecutive big games. A week after going off for 125 receiving yards and earning NFL Rookie of the Week honors, Coleman went for 70 yards and a grown man touchdown on an end zone fade from Josh Allen, clearly demonstrating the quarterback's trust.
Allen was asked about his rookie wide receiver and their budding chemistry after the game.
"Our staff has got him rolling. He knows what he's doing. You know, when he knows what he's doing, he's rolling. He's a damn good football player. He's continuing to make plays for us, and you love to see that from from the young guy, and he's only gonna get better."
Multiple times throughout the game, Allen went to Coleman in situations that were heavily contested. Whether it's down the sideline on back shoulder throws, across the middle of the field in traffic, or a jump ball in the end zone, it seems like Coleman is developing into one of Allen's most trusted targets in "gotta have it" situations. It's been an incredible start to the rookie's career, and the sky is the limit.
