The Buffalo Bills have brought back a familiar face that has all of Bills Mafia screaming with joy on a Wednesday morning. Longtime Buffalo safety Micah Hyde has been signed to the Buffalo Bills practice squad, but what should Bills fans expect to see from him?

Speaking with the media, Bills' head coach Sean McDermott spoke at length about Hyde and his role in returning to the team.

"Just to set expectations, Micah is in a practice squad role. We are fully confident in Taylor Rapp, Damar Hamlin, Cole Bishop, Kareem Jackson — they've all been doing a real good job for us in the roles that they are currently in. They're going to stay in those stay in those roles, and Micah is in a in a practice squad role," McDermott said.

"The leadership piece for sure," McDermott said when agreeing with a reporter about the leadership aspect that Hyde brings in returning to the team. "You guys know Micah. I've said this when he was here playing, he could go down to the to the bank at the corner and be the president of the bank, just as easy as he could be the captain of the Buffalo Bills, right? So he just has a unique way about him from a leadership standpoint, to your point of who he is as a person and his presence and the way he's very adaptable to people and into his surroundings."

The first question with the signing of Hyde is the role he'll have on the team. The safety duo of Damar Hamlin and Taylor Rapp has been a success, so opting to shake that up as a 10-2 team in the stretch run before the playoffs would seem like an odd choice. McDermott was quick to address it.

"I say this respectfully, very little," McDermott said when asked what the expectations should be of Hyde. "We're in a good spot, you know, very confident in the guys that have played there all season long, and done it, done both. They're done a nice job, as I said a few minutes ago. 'Very little' from the standpoint of just managing expectations, is why I'm saying that, right? 'Very little' from, hey, 'you're going to come in and you're going to play and you're going to help,' no, let's just take it one day at a time, and let's, number one, make sure everybody understands what his role is right now, and we'll just see. We'll just take it one day at a time.

"It's about the team. It's always about the team, and it's never about one person. And in this case, Micah would not want that to be, in this case, about him."

Hyde brings veteran leadership, understanding of the defense, understanding of the culture, playoff experience — the list goes on and on. Having him around to continue to be a support to this team and be fit and ready to go in case of an emergency is a savvy move by Brandon Beane. However Hyde contributes to the Bills going forward, it's great to see No. 23 back in Buffalo.
