Quarterback Mitch Trubisky is now a free agent. The former first-round pick was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday.
Trubisky signed with the Steelers after a one-year stint as the Bills' backup. He spent the first four years of his career with the Chicago Bears.
After his release, there has been speculation that the Bills may reunite with their former backup.
Josh Allen is the only quarterback on Buffalo's active roster as Kyle Allen is set to be a free agent. It would make sense for the Bills to bring Trubisky back. His previous history with the team makes him an easy fit to bring in on a cheap deal. He would have to learn a somewhat new system, though, as Brian Daboll was the offensive coordinator when he was in Buffalo in 2021.
Trubisky was drafted No. 2 by the Bears in the 2017 NFL Draft. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2018 after leading the Bears to a 12-4 record and an NFC North title.
