The Bills are getting ready to play their final season at Highmark Stadium, where the Bills have played since 1973. The iconic stadium, home of plenty of memorable games and players throughout the years, will be replaced by a new home next door beginning with the 2026 NFL Season.
The new stadium reached a new milestone, with the final steel beam being put in place. The bones are set, now it's about putting everything around it.
The final beam, before it was placed, was signed by those that worked on it, forever solidifying themselves as a part of Bills Mafia for the new era.
The stadium is now over 50% complete, according to an article on buffalobills.com. With the frame in place, the stadium will begin to come into shape in the coming months as seats are added later this spring.
"I know how much the Bills mean to this community. It's part of the spirit, it's part of the identity. I really believe this is going to secure the franchise here for decades," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Bills owner Terry Pegula took the opportunity to give credit to the workers that have kept the project moving on schedule.
"Today is not about Terry Pegula, Kathy Hochul, Mark Poloncarz, or Roger Goodell," Pegula said. "Today is about you hard workers; men and women. Electricians, carpenters, operating engineers, painters, teamsters, ironworkers. The list goes on and on."
The Bills will start their last season in their longtime stadium looking to be the first team in franchise history to win a Super Bowl. How fitting it would be to get it done, playing out the season at the same home of the Jim Kelly era, before ushering in a new stadium that will, in its immediate future, be the house that Josh Allen built.
Buffalo Bills set to host a player on a top-30 visit that might make some of Bills Mafia nervous
He’d be a huge upgrade.
