Buffalo Bills reportedly 'in the mix' for one of the top remaining free agents
The Buffalo Bills are one of several teams still in the mix for one of the league’s top players
The Buffalo Bills are reportedly trying to decide what to do with running back Devin Singletary.
Singletary, who has spent the first four years of his career in Buffalo, is set to be a free agent on Wednesday afternoon when the new league year begins.
The former third-round draft pick has been a reliable player for the Bills, missing just one game over the last two seasons. Singletary has also gone over 1,000 total yards in each of the last two seasons.
According to Ty Dunne, Buffalo is mulling a decision on Singletary while also considering the idea of signing running back Jamaal Williams.
Williams isn't expected to return to the Detroit Lions after the team signed former Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery on Tuesday night.
According to Dunne, the Bills are one of the teams "in the mix" for Williams.
The Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers, and Chicago Bears are also involved.
Williams, who led the NFL in touchdowns last season with 17, is coming off the best season of his career after rushing for 1,066 yards on a career-high 262 carries.
The former BYU standout is two years older than Singletary. Outside of last season, Williams hasn't been more productive than Singletary.
Williams, however, is one of the more popular players in the NFL and he's a great teammate. He was also a key leader for the Lions (Detroit fans don't seem to be thrilled that the team is moving on from him).
I don't think signing Williams is a move that would make or break Buffalo in 2023, but he could be a good addition to the roster. If nothing else, his weekly interviews would be extremely entertaining for fans.
