The Buffalo Bills are in need of another playmaker across from All-Pro Stefon Diggs.
A more consistent threat to move the chains that they have in TE Dawson Knox but need on a more vertical level.
Gabe Davis is almost exclusively a big-play threat, Khalil Shakir is still young in his development and Isaiah McKenzie has found his niche but it's as a slot receiver.
A popular name being thrown around and attached to the Bills is Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins. Who's future with the Cardinals is not only in doubt but has one foot out the door.
With his suspension, Hopkins' no-trade clause is voided. Making him available for trade, virtually out of his hands. Meaning the Buffalo Bills could theoretically make a move.
The complicated part of this is the compensation and how he's afforded.
Come April, the Bills only have six picks in the upcoming NFL Draft. One for the each of the first six rounds.
Even if a deal comes down, it would likely need to include a player. Possibly someone to help alleviate the hit that will come with adding Hopkins to the roster.
For example, a pre-June first trade comes with the highest returns from DT Ed Oliver ($10.7 million), C Mitch Morse ($5.36 million) or S Micah Hyde ($3.5 million). Any of which would fill a need for Arizona and help Buffalo afford the super star.
After which Hopkins would need to have his deal either restructured or possibly transferred much into a signing bonus to prorate the hit down the line.
It's still not set in stone but Hopkins has helped make it easier to acquire him. The Bills may have to give up a high pick in addition to other assets, but adding Hopkins is a realistic option that takes pressure off Diggs and elevates the offense enough to be less reliant.
