The Buffalo Bills are preparing to host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football at Orchard Park, which has been getting pummeled with snow. The lake effect event has provided plenty of powder to Western New York, but after hard work overnight from the Bills organization and Erie County, things are looking cold for game time. Light snow might still be hanging around, but the expected temperature at game time in the 8 o'clock hour is calling for 27 degrees, with a real feel of 22.
The weather pattern shifted over south Buffalo, dumping heavier snow accumulations in Orchard Park than originally expected. As of Sunday morning, all roads leading to Highmark Stadium have been plowed to bare pavement, but there are reports on social media of driving conditions in the early afternoon hours having poor visibility.
Equipment crews and shovelers were working through the overnight hours to remove snow from the stadium.
It's a huge game for the Bills, who have an opportunity in front of their home fans to clinch their fifth-straight AFC East division title and secure a spot in the playoffs with still a month and a half to go in the regular season.
For Buffalo, it seems inevitable that the division will get clinched at some point. The real question is whether or not they can chase down the Kansas City Chiefs for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Doing so would give Buffalo home field advantage throughout the playoffs and a first round bye.
If the Bills can't get the No. 1 seed but still have the division secured, they would be guaranteed to play their first playoff game at home in Orchard Park.
