When rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman took a hard hit from former Bills fan-favorite Jordan Poyer in last week's game against the Miami Dolphins, he left the field with an injured wrist. For the first practice of the new week in preparation for a road matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, Coleman didn't practice. Head coach Sean McDermott provided an update about his status for this week.

It's a confusing and very vague update. Coleman won't be practicing today, and they are "taking it one day at a time." More potentially concerning is his later update, saying that it could be "more than just this week."

In another update, McDermott said that wide receiver Amari Cooper will participate in Wednesday's walk-through.

For my money, if Coleman isn't 100%, I believe it would make the most sense to sit him down. The Colts don't pose a significant challenge to Buffalo, especially on the ground. The Colts defense ranks 28th in EPA/Rush, which should contribute to Buffalo's ability to exploit the ground game with running backs James Cook and Ray Davis. Knowing that Cooper is on track to play, sitting Coleman to get him fully healthy would make the most sense.

Give me a passing attack of Cooper, Khalil Shakir, a duo of tight ends in Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox, and the ability for all the running backs to catch the ball, and there should be more than enough horses for Buffalo to be effective on offense this week.

It's significant to understand that the Bills, after this game with the Colts, will turn around to host the reigning Super Bowl champions and Buffalo's biggest hurdle, the Kansas City Chiefs, the next week. I'd much rather see a fully healthy Coleman for that game than risk his healthy further in a game where his presence shouldn't be as needed.
