Last week, the Buffalo Bills offense looked putrid against the Houston Texans, as Josh Allen had the worst statistical game of his career. All of this came without his top receiver, Khalil Shakir.

Things are going the wrong direction this week. Heading into a Monday Night Football matchup against the New York Jets, it looks as though Shakir is trending towards missing another game. Not only that, but it seems that Shakir will be accompanied by running back James Cook, who looked phenomenal early in last week's game.

Let me unravel the mile-long injury report for the Bills. Hold on a second.

Right. There they are. Cook is dealing with a toe injury that he sustained last Sunday, and has now logged consecutive "Did Not Participate" practices. That's not great. He hasn't been ruled out yet, but he's clearly not showing any signs of trending in the right direction. If Cook isn't able to go, the Bills will rely on a deployment of Ty Johnson and rookie Ray Davis, and veteran Darrynton Evans has been designated to return from IR to add a boost to the room as well.

The absence of Shakir was monumental last weekend. Without him on the field, it looked like the offense had no rhythm or personality, and nobody on the field was generating consistent separation. Shakir is still sidelined with an ankle injury, and it looks unlikely that he will be able to make it back for this game.

This is horrible news for a sputtering offense that has seen Allen account for only one touchdown over the last two games combined. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady will need to do a better job of generating open looks against a tough defense than he did last week.
