Buffalo Bills haven't even tried to hide exactly what they're looking for in wide receivers before the 2025 NFL Draft

If there's one thing that was missing from the Buffalo Bills offense in 2024, it was deep speed. There wasn't a receiver on the roster that you'd call a burner, someone that defenses have to respect deep. Sean McDermott spoke about it back before the Scouting Combine, saying you can never have too much speed.

The wide receiver prospects that the Bills are bringing in for private workouts and top-30 visits paint a very clear picture of the fact that they're eager to address it in the 2025 NFL Draft, with the latest name reported being Tai Felton.

Here's a list of the reported wide receivers that they've had on a Top 30 visit or have done a private workout with, with their 40-yard dash time included.

  • Isaiah Bond, Texas – 4.35
  • Jaylin Lane, Virginia Tech – 4.34
  • KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Auburn – 4.37
  • Arian Smith, Georgia – 4.36
  • Isaac TeSlaa, Arkansas – 4.43
  • Jalen Royals, Utah State – 4.42
  • Tai Felton, Maryland – 4.37

Talk about a clear trend. Wide receiver isn't the top need for the Buffalo Bills in this draft — it's well known that the Bills' biggest needs are along the defensive line and at cornerback — but wide receiver is certainly a need.

After extending Khalil Shakir in the offseason and bringing in former Chargers receiver Joshua Palmer to a 3-year contract, the bones of the wide receiver room are pretty much set. However, bringing in a young receiver that can stretch a defense deep and also has the speed to turn a short pass into a huge gain is definitely a need for Josh Allen and the Buffalo offense that could take the upside of the offense to a different level.
