The Buffalo Bills have some work to do. After announcing that head coach Joe Brady has taken over the position, there have been a few shakeups at One Bills Drive, and it’s going to be the first major challenge of the Brady era in Buffalo.

It won’t be the last domino to fall, but a series of moves has been reported that shake up the front office at One Bills Drive. Defensive coordinator Bobby Babich is going to the Green Bay Packers, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are hiring Adam Henry as their new receivers coach.

Babich had been with the Buffalo Bills since 2017, serving as their safeties coach until the 2022 season, when he was promoted to the linebackers coach. He was then promoted again in 2024 to the defensive coordinator position, where he’s stayed through the 2025 season. In 2024, in Babich’s first season as defensive coordinator, he did well. The team ranked 11th in scoring defense, allowing just 21.6 yards per game, and 17th in total defense, allowing 341.5 yards per game.

Then, in 2025, he built on what he had in 2025, helping the team finish seventh in the league in total defense and first in total yards allowed per game passing. The run defense was another story, but that’s not entirely on Babich’s shoulders, as the team was ravaged with injuries. Former head coach Sean McDermott helped take over the play calling responsibilites after back-to-back losses, a collaborative effort with Babich.

Henry joined the staff in 2023, where he’s been a wide receivers coach throughout his entire career in Buffalo. He jumped around from the NFL and college, spending time with the Oakland Raiders in the early 2000’s, before jumping back to college to coach for the Louisiana State Tigers.

In 2015, he returned to the NFL and had stints with the San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, and Dallas Cowboys before coming to Buffalo. Henry was forced to make a lot out of nothing during his tenure in Buffalo, without a true No. 1 wide receiver over the past couple of seasons.

Two key coaching positions for Buffalo just opened, and it’s going to be a whirlwind of updates over the coming days and weeks as Brady builds his staff in Buffalo. For now, he’s lost two important pieces early on in the process. Luckily, there are more than a few options available to him, either internally or externally, for the recent vacancies.

The timing is not ideal, but it doesn’t define the moment. With two critical positions now open, Brady’s first real test as head coach has arrived sooner than expected. How he fills those vacancies, and how quickly, will go a long way toward shaping not just his staff, but the direction of the Bills as they enter a new era. It’s an exciting time to be a fan of the Buffalo Bills.
