The family of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin released a statement on Tuesday morning offering gratitude for the support they've received since Hamlin's collapse on Monday Night Football.
"On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country. We also want to acknowledge the dedicated first responders and healthcare professionals at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center who have provided exceptional care to Damar. We feel so blessed to be part of the Buffalo Bills organization and to have their support. We also want to thank Coach Taylor and the Bengals for everything they've done. Your generosity and compassion mean the world to us. Please keep Damar in your prayers. We will release updates as soon as we have them." THANK YOU, THE HAMLIN FAMILY
Hamlin's friend and business partner Jordan Rooney appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday to provide an update on the situation.
"I can’t speak specifically on his medical condition,” said Rooney to Good Morning America host Robin Roberts. “I will say that he’s fighting, he’s a fighter…The family is in good spirits. We’re honestly just taking it minute by minute, hour by hour."
Hamlin collapsed in the first quarter of the Bills' game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night after tackling Cincy wide receiver Tee Higgins.
The Bills released a statement overnight stating that Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and had his heartbeat restored on the field before being transported to UC Medical Center. Hamlin was listed in critical condition at the time of the Bills' statement.
Monday night's game was postponed in the wake of Hamlin's collapse. The NFL has not yet made a decision on if/when the game will be resumed.
