After months of speculation and rumors, it's official. What was once a fun rumor is now a very real possibility for the Buffalo Bills to land the All-Pro wide receiver. Arizona made it official with an announcement that had quickly gone viral.
While Hopkins can choose where he would like to play, Bills Mafia quickly started bombarding social media with messages asking Hopkins to come to Buffalo. Things have officially reached a fever pitch.
Hopkins wasted no time posting a goodbye message to the Arizona Cardinals. However, it's what wasn't included that quickly caused a media firestorm and could be yet another indicator of his future plans.
The superstar receiver's most memorable play was the "Hail Murray" against the Buffalo Bills. It was so impactful that there were even commercials made specifically for that play. The impact of that single play makes it that much more surprising that Hopkins decided to avoid it in his goodbye message.
While Hopkins may have simply forgotten about it, the Bills Mafia wasted no time bringing up what it could mean. Put plainly, this could be a subtle indicator that Buffalo may be his ultimate and eventual destination.
Hopkins hasn't shied away from Josh Allen or the Buffalo Bills and his desire to play for them. In fact, immediately after the rumors started and Buffalo was named as a potential landing spot, Hopkins went viral on Instagram for posting lyrics to Buffalo Soldier. Fast forward up until last week when Hopkins outright said the number one quarterback he wishes he could catch passes from was Josh Allen. There was another instance where Hopkins was asked not to say anything, but to make gestures when teams were mentioned and he couldn't help but smile when Buffalo was mentioned. All of that to say, it wouldn't be surprising if excluding a devastating play against the Bills was intentional in his photo selection.
Whether it was simply coincidence or not, Hopkins has successfully riled up the fanbase, once again. Let's see if Brandon Beane has any more magic up his sleeve and can give Josh Allen and the offense another high-powered weapon.
