The Buffalo Bills have been battling through their fair share of injuries this season. The team has been absolutely ravaged by injuries on both sides of the football. Just this week alone, head coach Sean McDermott has ruled out another player for the season in kicker Tyler Bass, another blow for the team, which is already down a handful of players.

It doesn’t just stop there, though. On Wednesday, McDermott gave an update on a slew of players who won’t be practicing, putting their availability for the upcoming Week 14 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals in serious question.

McDermott said that defensive end Joey Bosa, linebacker Terrel Bernard, and wide receiver Josh Palmer would not be available to practice. Bosa has been an absolute gamebreaker, and McDermott said his productivity cannot be replaced; he’s been that good for Buffalo this season.

Next man up for Buffalo

As for Bernard, while he’s a team captain and he’s been very clearly playing injured throughout the season, the team actually has a good backup plan for him in linebacker Shaq Thompson. In fact, when Thompson is on the field, he outperforms Bernard, as the team has stopped the run more efficiently with him in the lineup.

Quarterback Josh Allen and the offense are taking a hit once again in a passing attack that could use everybody possible to succeed. There have been some real issues in that portion of the offense; being down Palmer is just another blow for an offense trying to find its identity.

It wasn’t all bad news coming out of One Bills Drive, though. Both starting offensive tackles, Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown, were limited, and perhaps the biggest boost was that tight end Dalton Kincaid was, too. Kincaid is inarguably Allen’s best weapon, and getting him back on the field will go a long way toward the team finding success down the stretch.

Despite the uncertainty with injuries, the Bills know the only path forward is to keep stacking wins. Getting a few key contributors back would be a significant boost, but until then, Buffalo will once again have to rely on its depth as it prepares for a critical matchup against Cincinnati.
