Bills’ Dion Dawkins keeps it real with hilarious response about what it’s like to get two impactful pieces back
Dion Dawkins is a national treasure.
The Buffalo Bills didn’t need the trade deadline to bring in some big pieces to help bolster the defensive side of the football. After Week 6 ended, the team was able to bring back edge rusher Michael Hoecht and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi, who were serving suspensions related to the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins always knows how to capture a moment, which is why it should surprise no one that he’s gone viral with his comments about having his two teammates back in the fold at One Bills Drive.
The superstar protector described the energy that the two bring to the team upon their return. While we don’t have much experience at the club, we’ll trust Dawkins’ comments.
“Another analogy, you ready?” Dion said. “It’s like you go into a club and a section of the club ain’t nobody in there turnt up. And then here comes Hoecht and Larry, and they run in the club and they turnt up, it’s going to make you turn up, right? It’s going to make you turn up and want to have a good time. Me being Dion, that’s how I see it, right?
“We had a couple of guys that couldn’t get in because they left their ID at home, and now they’re at the club and they let them in, so now they turnt up with the guys, so,” Dawkins said. “That’s how I see it. I’m thankful to have them in the club, because it’s time to party.”
Defense could use the boost with Hoecht and Ogunjobi returning
Hoecht looked like a superstar during the preseason, giving the Bills Mafia high hopes for when he’d be able to return to the field. Luckily, the fan base won’t have to wait long as it appears the two will get some action in Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers.
For Ogunjobi, he’ll most likely take on an increased role right away, with defensive tackle DaQuan Jones week-to-week with an injury. One of the biggest issues with the current state of the defense is how well teams are rushing against the Bills. Getting a big-bodied run stopper added into the mix should have the fan base excited about the future of the team.
Here’s hoping that on Sunday, the fan base and the organization will be turnt up after a dominant defensive performance from some of the new guys. Surely, if that were to happen, Dawkins would be getting on the mic for another fantastic analogy.
The Bills have been waiting for a spark on defense, and with Hoecht and Ogunjobi returning, they might finally have it. Their presence could be exactly what Buffalo needs to get back to its physical, dominant identity on that side of the football.
