The Buffalo Bills, along with 29 other NFL teams, had to sit on the couch Sunday evening and watch the Seattle Seahawks raise the Lombardi Trophy after defeating the New England Patriots. For Bills Mafia, it was a fun evening seeing a division rival get destroyed on the national stage, but I digress.

What made the game bittersweet was that Buffalo was a bad call away from competing in the AFC Championship game, with a chance to go to the Super Bowl. If not for some questionable calls from the referees, who knows where Buffalo would have been on Super Bowl Sunday?

The good news is that Buffalo has quarterback Josh Allen, which means their Super Bowl window will remain wide open as long as he’s at the helm. It’ll be a huge offseason for first-time head coach Joe Brady, with plenty of adjustments to be made on both sides of the football.

ESPN says the “pressure is on” for Buffalo in 2026

ESPN released its way-too-early 2026 power rankings after the Super Bowl, and it has Buffalo ranked No. 5 behind the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots, and Seattle Seahawks. To get over the hump, ESPN suggests the pressure is on for Buffalo entering 2026.

“With Sean McDermott’s firing after the team’s overtime loss in the divisional round, the expectations are high for what new coach Joe Brady and president of football operations/general manager Brandon Beane can do to help quarterback Josh Allen reach and win a Super Bowl. That starts right now, as the decisions made this offseason in the draft and free agency will go a long way in determining how successful Allen is for years to come.” – Alaina Getzenberg

Buffalo is already tied to one monster free agent in Maxx Crosby, though it might be too much for Buffalo to pull off with its current cap situation, and the pending free agents that the team needs to take care of. General manager Brandon Beane opened up about potentially bringing in Crosby.

“You can assume that when certain names become available in our league, I’m going to look into it,” Beane said.

Another option, outside of free agency, would be potentially adding a player like Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. He’s not a splashy name right now, but with Harrison still on his rookie contract, it could be an easy way for the Bills to get quarterback Josh Allen another weapon.

It’s way too early to know who will actually make it to free agency when the league year begins in March. Regardless, the Bills have some cleaning up of their own to do before any moves can be made.

As long as Allen is the quarterback of the Buffalo Bills, the window will remain firmly open, even if the pressure is on in Buffalo.
