The Buffalo Bills are battling through their fair share of injuries heading into the contest against the Kansas City Chiefs.

While speaking with the media, head coach Sean McDermott said defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and wide receiver Josh Palmer would not be practicing due to injuries he called “week-to-week” ahead of the matchup.

Running back Ray Davis (illness) also did not practice. The team gave some veteran rest days to defensive end Joey Bosa, linebacker Shaq Thompson, and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips.

McDermott also announced that wide receiver Gabe Davis has been activated from the practice squad injured list, officially counting toward the 17-man unit. Davis was battling through injury and had a special injury designation on the practice squad. The team can call him up for any contest, including the game against the Chiefs, though it is unlikely.

On the positive side, both linebackers, Terrel Bernard and Matt Milano, were full participants. Milano was ruled out of the contest against the Carolina Panthers, and Bernard was active, though only available if an emergency arose. Gabe Davis is back like he never left

Obviously, the biggest move of the day was the announcement regarding Davis. It’s his second stint with the Bills after signing a massive deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Injuries hurt his season, forcing the Jaguars to part ways with Davis after just one season.

Throughout his career in Buffalo, Davis appeared in 64 games with 163 receptions for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns. Buffalo is hoping to get some of that production when and if Davis gets a call-up as the season progresses.

If Davis can stay healthy and get back into the swing of football activities, he could quickly re-establish himself as a reliable target for quarterback Josh Allen, something the Bills’ offense could use entering a critical stretch of the season.
