Bills forced to make unfortunate roster shakeup just moments before kickoff against the Texans
A mixed bag of good and bad news for the Bills.
The Buffalo Bills are once again shaking up the roster, this time because of things completely out of their control. Newly acquired wide receiver and kick returner Mecole Hardman was placed on the injured reserve just moments before kickoff against the Houston Texans in Week 12.
Quarterback Josh Allen was already down a few weapons in wide receiver Curtis Samuel and tight end Dalton Kincaid, who were ruled out on Wednesday by head coach Sean McDermott.
Some reinforcements are on the way for Buffalo, though, as the team elevated tight end Keleki Latu and wide receiver Gabe Davis for the matchup. Just hours before kickoff, Cover One reported that wide receiver Keon Coleman would be a healthy scratch, making it a good sign that Davis would get the call-up once again.
This is the second straight game that Coleman has been a healthy scratch, stemming from disciplinary action where the wide receiver reportedly was late to a team meeting. It’s now the third time in his young career that he’s missed some sort of time for his off-the-field issues.
Outside of Davis, the team is rolling out wide receiver Elijah Moore, who was a healthy scratch in the win over the Bucs. A name to watch out for in the contest is wide receiver Tyrell Shavers, who had a monster game against the Bucs in Coleman’s absence.
Buffalo Bills inactive report for Week 12
Earlier in the week, Bills Mafia was a bit nervous about the number of players that popped up on the injury report. It seemed like everyone and their grandmother on the Bills were injured. Fortunately, the inactive report wasn’t too bad, outside of the names that we already knew would be out.
Outside of Coleman, Samuel, and Kincaid, the team announced that offensive tackle Chase Lundt, defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis, and cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram are the remaining inactives.
Coleman’s absence remains one of the biggest storylines entering the matchup, but the Bills are hoping that the receivers at hand can steady the passing game and help Allen keep pace in a critical AFC showdown.
