The Buffalo Bills are beginning the process of bringing in a new head coach. After nine seasons with the Bills, the team is moving on from head coach Sean McDermott. It’s a move that has fans divided, with many believing the wrong individual was fired, as they think general manager Brandon Beane deserved the boot instead.

It’ll be a whirlwind of updates coming in as the team prepares for an exciting new chapter in their history. A new stadium and a brand new head coach, paired with the best quarterback in the league, in Josh Allen. Buffalo has already been busy, bringing in a handful of coaches for interviews.

We are going to keep this tracker updated every day as more breaking information becomes available. General manager Brandon Beane also alluded to the fact that some teams that are still in the playoffs might have candidates that they are interested in, but can’t interview them until their season is over.

In-person interviews with candidates currently not under contract or employed can happen at any point. Other in-person interviews can take place after the divisional round of the playoffs, once a team has been eliminated from contention. With the divisional round behind us, things are going to start to heat up pretty quickly surrounding the opening at One Bills Drive.

As the Bills move deeper into the interview process, clarity should begin to form on what direction the organization wants to take. Whether Buffalo prioritizes continuity, a fresh voice, or a proven leader, the stakes couldn’t be higher with quarterback Josh Allen in his prime and championship expectations fully in place. During the press conference to discuss head coach Sean McDermott’s firing, owner Terry Pegula said the expectation would not be Super Bowl or bust for the new guy coming in, but that’s hard to believe with the best player on the planet in Allen on the Bills.

The hire will shape the identity of the franchise for hopefully years to come, and every step of the process will be under a microscope as Buffalo searches for the right head coach to lead the next era.
