Bills hit with some bad news ahead of Week 13 that could completely alter the gameplan heading into the contest
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers will reportedly be playing in the Week 13 contest.
The Buffalo Bills are looking to bounce back in a big way after the loss against the Houston Texans. It was an abysmal game in which quarterback Josh Allen was sacked eight times, and the game felt much further away than the box score suggested.
Despite some self-inflicted wounds and non-complementary football, the team found itself with a chance to win late in the contest. In the loss, Buffalo dropped further in the division and is now fighting for one of the last wild-card spots in the NFL playoffs.
The loss makes the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers that much more important, and the Bills got some bad news that will affect kickoff and how the team plans to stop the Steelers’ offense.
Head coach Mike Tomlin offered a bizarre explanation for why quarterback Aaron Rodgers was practicing all week but was unavailable in the team’s loss to the Chicago Bears, all while confirming he would most likely be active for the contest against Buffalo.
“I anticipate him being ready for next week. It was a prudent decision to make. Certainly, it wasn’t a fluid week for him,” said Tomlin of Rodgers via the Steelers’ YouTube channel. “It was a fluid week for Mason [Rudolph] in terms of reps, and so I think it’ll be in our rear view as we move forward. I’m hopeful of that.”
It’s been reported that Rodgers will, in fact, be playing against the Bills. The veteran quarterback suffered a left wrist injury and was inactive against the Bears despite practicing all week.
Rodgers’ history against the Bills
In his career against Buffalo, Rodgers is 3-4, averaging 15 completions for 192 yards and one touchdown, with one interception in those seven games.
Buffalo has won the last two matchups against Rodgers during his time with the New York Jets. In those two games, Rodgers had two touchdowns and three interceptions while completing just around 65 percent of his passes for around 200 yards on average.
The Bills had a chance to take on a backup quarterback once again, but for this contest, it looks like the eventual Hall of Fame quarterback, Rodgers, will be available.
Rodgers’ return gives Pittsburgh a boost, but the Bills have handled the quarterback in the last two meetings. With playoff hopes hanging in the balance, this matchup could become a turning point in the Bills’ season.
