After a preseason opening loss to the New York Giants, the Buffalo Bills are now turning their attention to another AFC foe as the team prepares to take on the Chicago Bears in Week 2 of the NFL preseason.

While Buffalo deployed a handful of starters, Josh Allen and a handful of others didn’t see any action. The preseason is a dress rehearsal for some of the players vying for one of the cherished spots on the 53-man roster, and we’ll get another look at what Head Coach Sean McDermott and the front office have been building in Buffalo.

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming preseason matchup against the Bears.

Bills players to watch:

Buffalo and Chicago are teaming up for a joint practice before the contest. It’ll be surprising to hear from McDermott if Allen will get any playing time at all with his recent comments about starters playing in the preseason. With that, let’s take a look at some key players we’ll be watching out for in the upcoming matchup.

WR Tyrell Shavers: Shavers balled out in the team’s first preseason game in an already crowded WR room. The Bills’ head coach alluded to Shaver’s need to add special teams to his game in hopes of cracking the 53-man roster. The talented WR showed up and showed out. Shavers even managed to register a tackle on special teams, which is sure to have had McDermott fired up. If he can keep it up, he’s a lock to make the team.

DT Deone Walker: Walker showed flashes in his first NFL action. With one play specifically, Walker dominated the offensive line to explode in the backfield to bat away a ball from the QB. Needless to say, the fanbase was pumped, and after just one preseason matchup, it looks like Brandon Beane may have struck gold. Getting more reps in the preseason will go a long way toward dominating on Sundays during the regular season. Here’s hoping we get another viral moment out of him.

RB James Cook: Before the team’s first preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, Cook showed up in full uniform and completed in drills. Cook made himself unavailable for the game, which has the entire contract drama front and center once again. All eyes are going to be on the disgruntled RB to see what type of decision he makes for gameday. If he sits out again, it gives players like Ray Davis more time to shine. It’ll be must-see TV either way.
