Bills Injury Report: A concerning update with a slew of important players missing time ahead of Week 3 vs. Miami
The Buffalo Bills released their first injury report as the team prepares for an upcoming divisional showdown against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football.
The Buffalo Bills dominated the New York Jets in Week 2 of the NFL season. It was a statement win from the defense after getting beaten up by the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. Joey Bosa was the standout with a forced fumble, a sack, and some pressures to boot.
Head coach Sean McDermott spoke to the media on Monday with an update on the team’s injuries. Needless to say, it’s a concerning one as former All-Pro linebacker Matt Milano is out with an injury. Milano could be seen toward the end of the game against the Jets on the sideline holding his helmet, worrying fans about a potential injury.
“He’s one of our better players, we’ll see where it goes,” McDermott said. “I feel bad for him. He works extremely hard.”
Buffalo Bills injury report ahead of Week 3 vs. Dolphins
Buffalo is already down one defensive playmaker in Ed Oliver, who doesn’t look like he’ll be ready to compete in the upcoming Week 3 matchup, and now Milano.
The front office has always been hesitant to rush players back from injury, especially on a short week. It’s not looking good for Milano or Oliver to get into the upcoming contest, and the team could be without Cam Lewis and Taron Johnson depending on how they trend throughout the week.
On the bright side, Lewis and Johnson returned to the field in a limited capacity, though their status remains questionable. Rounding out the injury report, Jordan Hancock was a full participant after dealing with a shoulder injury, and Shaq Thompson was limited while dealing with a hamstring and hand injury.
Next man up for the Buffalo Bills
McDermott and the front office have long stressed resilience when injuries inevitably happen. In the Week 2 victory over the Jets, some players stepped up in Oliver’s absence, and it was easy sailing for the defense.
Look for a player like Dorian Williams or Joe Andreessen to get some increased reps if Milano were to miss time. For now, all eyes are going to be on One Bills Drive as they navigate through the injuries ahead of their divisional showdown against the Dolphins on ‘Thursday Night Football’.
