The Buffalo Bills are once again finding themselves banged up heading into a game. For Week 13, the team has already ruled out a handful of players on both sides of the football.

Some key protection for quarterback Josh Allen up front will be missing as both starting tackles, Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown, will be unable to suit up and compete. Not only that, but the team will be without linebacker Terrel Bernard, who head coach Sean McDermott ruled out on Friday.

Leading up to the game, as has been the case in the past few weeks, the team made a slew of roster moves to prepare for the Week 13 matchup, and injuries are once again at the forefront.

Buffalo placed wide receiver Curtis Samuel on Injured Reserve, sidelining him for at least the next four games. In a subsequent move, the team signed wide receiver Gabe Davis to the 53-man roster.

Davis seemed like a given with his two call-ups already; another game-day elevation would have forced the team’s hand anyway.

Curtis Samuel hasn’t lived up to the hype

Samuel will be eligible to return at the earliest for the Bills’ Week 17 home game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The veteran receiver has left much to be desired as a weapon in the offense, totaling just seven receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown, well into the 2025 season. It’s not at all close to the production the team was hoping for when they signed him to a massive three-year, $24 million contract ahead of the 2024 season.

During his career with the Bills, he has accounted for only 38 receptions for 334 yards and two touchdowns in 20 games played. To put into perspective what Davis means to the offense in comparison to Samuel, through just two games, Davis has four receptions, which is nearing the season total for Samuel.

Now, with Samuel sidelined and multiple starters unavailable, Buffalo’s margin for error is shrinking. Davis stepping in has proven to give a boost, though Samuel’s lack of production for his high price tag makes the latest move to injured reserve that much more infuriating for the fan base.
