The Buffalo Bills are in a bit of a pickle with their star RB James Cook. It’s no secret that Cook wants to get paid, and get paid big bucks. During this entire offseason, the Bills’ talented RB has been vocal about his need for a new contract.

Matt Zenitz, NFL reporter for CBS Sports, broke the news early on August 3rd that the team would be without their star receiver, Khalil Shakir, who is considered week-to-week with a high ankle sprain. Bills Mafia might’ve thought that the news would be the worst they would hear today, but Cook made sure that wasn’t the case.

James Cook responds

Alaina Getzenberg, ESPN reporter for the Buffalo Bills, opened up on why James Cook was on a bike and not at practice. In typical Cook fashion, he just uttered one word, “business.” As Getzenberg reported, Cook was then asked about his practice for tomorrow and his availability, to which Cook responded with “Business” once again. Reportedly, that was Cook’s word of the day as he just kept repeating “business” over and over again.

Things were looking halfway decent at one point between the organization and Cook, when the RB said he was going to arrive at camp. Speaking with The Athletic, Cook spoke up about the current contract negotiations, “I mean, we have talks. I’m never going to give up,” He continued, “I mean, I deserve it — what I want, what I need. It’s going to eventually happen.”

The Buffalo Bills are in a difficult decision with RB James Cook

Cook is an incredible RB, there’s no doubt about it. But I am not sure that Buffalo will be able to pull off what’s needed to keep him on the roster, especially considering these latest antics. Cook wants to get paid; it seems like the Bills want to pay him, but the two seem way too far off on contract negotiations at this time. I still replay his unbelievable touchdown in the playoffs against the Chiefs in my head.

The talented Bills RB isn’t doing himself any favors currently, as he views himself as a top option in one of the very best offenses in the entire NFL. What do you think? Should the Bills go all-in on Cook or do you think the anomisity from the rising star is too much?

Cook for Parsons (plus picks) – who says no?

While Jerry Jones is adamant that Dallas Cowboys All-Pro LB Micah Parsons is unavailable, could Buffalo potentially use the current situation with Cook as trade bait? Just having a little fun here. Right now, all eyes are going to be on One Bills Drive to see how the contract negotiations unfold with their disgruntled backfield star.

If Cook were to leave the organization, it would be interesting to see how the team would fill his role with a roster of running backs that includes: Ray Davis, Ty Johnson, and Darrynton Evans.
