Joe Brady shares concerning injury update on Josh Allen that may affect the entire Bills’ 2026 outlook
Josh Allen is one of one in the National Football League.
Death, taxes, and quarterback Josh Allen proving once again to be an absolute warrior in this league.
The Buffalo Bills got more than just a franchise quarterback when they drafted Allen in 2018; they got a vocal leader and what would wind up being one of the very best players at the position in NFL history. Each year, Allen continues to rewrite the record books in hopes of bringing the first-ever Lombardi Trophy to Western New York.
The latest update from One Bills Drive is just further proof of how far Allen is willing to put his body on the line to help his team get a victory. New head coach Joe Brady was speaking at the Annual League Meeting on Saturday and provided an injury update on Allen dating back to the 2025 season.
“The thing about Josh Allen, he got surgery after the season, but he’s playing as if you think there’s nothing wrong with him,” Brady said. “The guy could barely walk, and then he’s playing games and it’s not impacting [his play].”
Josh Allen could barely walk due to his foot injury in 2025
That’s right: toward the end of the season, Allen’s foot injury was so bad that the quarterback could hardly walk. He went on to play multiple games, coming just short of the AFC Championship game while battling with such a serious injury.
Brady said what everyone was thinking with his next comments on Allen, and it’s hard not to disagree after the recent revelation about just how bad his injury truly was in 2025. Despite the severity of the injury, Brady gave fans a big reason to celebrate, acknowledging that Allen should be a full-go once the season rolls around—a huge sigh of relief for the fanbase.
“He’s built different,” Brady said. “And let’s hope it continues that way, but he’ll be good to go in the offseason. I talk with him regularly. He’s just excited to get going with guys like DJ Moore, kind of figure out what it’s going to look like, just this new kind of era.”
Allen doesn’t just talk about doing whatever it takes to win; he lives it, even when his body is telling him otherwise. If this is the version of Allen that Buffalo is getting heading into a new era under Brady, fully healthy and with his new weapons in place, Bills Mafia has every reason to believe the best is yet to come.
