Bills’ Josh Allen has the chance to dethrone both Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers
Buffalo is looking to bounce back after back-to-back losses.
The reigning MVP has plenty of accolades through his first eight seasons in the NFL. No one could have guessed when Allen was drafted what he would then be able to do on the football field.
In fact, many wrote Allen off before playing even a single snap in the NFL. Bills Mafia has been front and center to watch the rise of Allen as one of the very best quarterbacks in team history. He has been destroying record books with nearly every performance, and Sunday will be no different.
With a victory on Sunday, No. 17 can surpass Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger for the fourth-most regular-season wins by a quarterback in his first eight seasons. If you said before Allen was drafted that he would be breaking Manning’s records, there wouldn’t be a safe folding table in sight.
Allen has been electric following two-game losing streaks
After back-to-back losses, Buffalo needs to find a way to bounce back in a big way. Luckily, history is on the team’s side as head coach Sean McDermott’s squads are 8-0 following the bye week since 2017. It’s not just that, as the Bills’ quarterback has put on stellar performances after losing consecutive games, never losing three in a row.
In games following back-to-back losses, the franchise quarterback is 7-0, while the team averages over 25 points per game. The quarterback has 274 yards per game and a 15-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio in those games.
If Allen were to find the end zone twice as a rusher, he could tie quarterback Cam Newton for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, including playoffs, in NFL history. What’s more, if he has a passing and a rushing touchdown against the Panthers, he could break a tie with Newton for the most games with one passing and one rushing touchdown in NFL history.
If history is any indication, Allen and the Bills are primed for a statement performance. A win on Sunday wouldn’t just keep Buffalo in the playoff hunt, it would remind the league that the reigning MVP still has plenty of history left to write.
