Josh Allen has opportunity to make statement vs. Dolphins and inch past Patrick Mahomes in a key milestone
Buffalo Bills quarterback has a chance to etch his name in the NFL record books, surpassing Patrick Mahomes during Week 3 vs. Dolphins.
The Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins will have a large national audience on ‘Thursday Night Football’ for their Week 3 matchup. Buffalo looks to remain undefeated, and the Dolphins are hoping to avoid total collapse with Mike McDaniel’s future with the organization in question after a rocky start to the year.
Bills Mafia is hoping for another smooth-sailing type matchup, as was the case in Buffalo’s victory in Week 2 over the Jets. Ever since Josh Allen’s arrival, a chunk of these divisional games have been one-sided in Buffalo’s favor, with some huge performances from the reigning MVP.
In the matchup, Allen has a chance to surpass Patrick Mahomes in the record books for the fastest player ever to reach 300 career offensive touchdowns (including the postseason). According to the NFL, if Allen can get two total offensive touchdowns in the contest, he’ll achieve the feat one game faster than Mahomes did.
Josh Allen has dominated in games against the Miami Dolphins
The reigning MVP has a decorated history against the Dolphins, which bodes well for his chances to achieve the feat. Now, No. 17 has widely discussed that he couldn’t care less about individual accolades, but that doesn’t mean the Bills Mafia isn’t clamoring for him to achieve that.
Entering the ‘Thursday Night Football’ matchup, Allen has accounted for 4,089 passing yards and 45 total touchdowns in 15 contests against the division rivals.
For the Dolphins, they’ve struggled in 2025, allowing Daniel Jones and Drake Maye to throw for four touchdowns without an interception, while also allowing each quarterback to run for two touchdowns. Allen has to be chomping at the bit to get on the field in hopes of continuing to sour the Dolphins’ season early.
It won’t be all smooth sailing for the Bills as multiple stars on defense have been ruled out of the contest, including Ed Oliver and Matt Milano. For the Dolphins, they’re looking a little banged up themselves, with Ifeatu Melifonwu, Storm Duck, and Darren Waller all ruled out of the Week 3 matchup.
All eyes will be on Orchard Park, New York, as Allen and the Bills look to remain undefeated and continue their impressive early-season success. A victory and Allen making NFL history would be a nice way for Bills Mafia to end their Thursday night.
