Josh Allen voices clear frustration following Week 12 loss to Texans that Bills Mafia can’t help but agree with
QB1 was not happy after the game.
The Buffalo Bills weren’t able to pull off the fourth-quarter comeback and fell to the Houston Texans in Week 12. Quarterback Josh Allen was beaten up all game, being sacked eight times, which was the most in his career. Throughout the game, the offense just couldn’t get things going, with Allen frustrated on the sideline and clearly not happy with what was going on inside the game.
The reigning MVP finished the game with two interceptions, 253 passing yards, and completed just over 70 percent of his passes. The blame shouldn’t rest on the shoulders of the franchise quarterback, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t take on the full brunt of the blame after the game ended.
Immediately after the loss, Allen spoke to the media with a frustrating response on a night that saw plenty of injuries, but ultimately it came down to the final possession. Despite feeling like the game might’ve been out of reach, Allen nearly led another magical comeback, falling just short.
Allen opened up about the final fourth-down call, expressing his frustration of how it played out.
“I mean, just frustration on my part. In a situation like that, probably should’ve just banged a timeout. We got the plan late, didn’t give ourselves a chance there.”
Buffalo falls in the division; Allen wasn’t happy postgame
With the loss, Buffalo now drops further down in the division. They are still in second place, but the chances of them winning the division nearly evaporated overnight. The playoffs are still well in play, but the team is going to need to bounce back in a big way.
Early in the contest, Allen went down with an injury that had the Bills Mafia holding their breath, something that No. 17 discussed afterwards.
“I’m okay. Just left shoulder, landed on it, went a little numb on me, we’re good.”
Of course, Allen was quick to give the Texans’ defense their flowers. Houston entered the game with the No. 1 defense in the league and put on the pressure all game against Allen and the offense.
“It’s a good unit, statistically,” Allen said. “I think they’re the tops in basically everything that you can be the tops in. They showed that tonight, that’s a really good football team.”
Specifically on being sacked the most times in his career, Allen was candid with his response. It didn’t look fun, and it wasn’t fun. The team needs to do a better job of protecting Allen up front. Far too many times, he would try to roll out of the pocket to create something, only to be right in the defender’s face. Some of it was self-inflicted, with Allen acknowledging that he needs to be better.
“It’s not fun, I ran into a couple myself, I got to be better with throwing the ball away and living to see another down,” Allen said. “Letting us play some situational football and pinning them deep, too many times I was going backwards. I gotta be better on that.”
Allen’s frustration matched the feeling across Bills Mafia, but his willingness to own the loss echoed why he’s still the heartbeat of the team.
Time is running short, and the Bills’ response in the coming weeks will determine whether this becomes a turning point or just another step in a season slipping off track.
