The Buffalo Bills lost in heartbreaking fashion to the New England Patriots. Quarterback Josh Allen and the offense had a few costly turnovers throughout the game, swinging the momentum back to the Patriots. If it wasn’t turnovers, it was penalties. Buffalo had 11 penalties for over 90 yards in the contest, which is not how a team sets itself up to win a football game.

Allen wasn’t perfect, but he put on another exceptional performance, outside of his interception. The reigning MVP finished his day going 22 for 31 with two touchdowns and an interception while adding nine carries for 53 yards on the ground.

The franchise quarterback was blunt in his postgame messaging, sharing the same sentiment from the Bills Mafia: the team needs to be better if they want to win football games.

“We just played sloppy, not going to win a football game turning the ball over three times in our red zone, gave them one in their red zone,” Allen said. “That’s just bad, bad football, we just did not play good tonight.”

The second half was much better for Buffalo

For a moment, it looked like the Bills were going to be able to mount the comeback once again. However, a drive stalled near the red zone, limiting Buffalo to only three points. The Patriots marched down the field and drilled the game-winning field goal with under 20 seconds left on the clock.

Allen talked about the rhythm they were able to find in the second half, pointing out one Bills superstar who deserves his flowers, even after the tough loss.

“Yeah, just trying to find a rhythm and get into a good rhythm,” Allen said. “Obviously, Dalton Kincaid played fantastic tonight. We gotta carry that over, got to find a way to win that one. Again, we shouldn’t even have been in it with three turnovers. That’s just piss poor offense.”

Tight end Dalton Kincaid was Allen’s top option for the day, finishing with six catches for 108 yards. His emergence on the offense has been exciting to watch, even in the defeat. Allen even stuck up for his tight end after a reporter questioned how the Patriots were able to take Kincaid out of the second half.

“I thought he played good throughout the entire game,” Allen said. “We’ll watch film and move on.”

The Patriots came to play, and Allen made sure to also give his opponent their flowers. However, the talented quarterback pointed to how Buffalo really could’ve been in the driver’s seat in the division with a victory. Had Buffalo won, they would’ve had a three-game lead on the Patriots. Once again, Allen was blunt with his messaging: the team needs to be better moving forward.

“Respect to them, they came in, they knew what they had to do,” Allen said. “They took care of the football; we didn’t. If you look at it from the paper point of view, a pretty pivotal game in terms of what we could have done with this. We didn’t take advantage of our opportunity. I thought our defense played well, and they bailed us out a couple of times. Just not going to win many NFL games turning the ball over three times.”

Allen’s message was simple and clear: if the Bills clean up the mistakes, they’ll be in good shape. For now, the focus shifts to correcting what went wrong. The Bills beat themselves more than the Patriots beat them, a lesson they’ll aim to fix before next week.
