Josh Allen mentions ‘accountability’ and doesn’t mince words with unforgettable postgame message
An incredible act from Josh Allen after the win against the Chiefs.
Quarterback Josh Allen was pure class after the victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. It wasn’t about his play on the field or the outcome, but Allen made sure to make the moment special for a child in need.
Immediately after the game, before fielding questions, Allen took accountability for missing out on a recent pregame ritual. The franchise quarterback is “Director of Billustration” with New Era, where, as part of the relationship, Allen wears nine different hats at the Bills’ home games during the season that “were customized by patients at Oishei Children’s Hospital.”
The proceeds from these hats will benefit the Patricia Allen Fund, supporting the pediatric critical care team at Oishei. Unfortunately, Allen didn’t see the hat in his locker room before the contest and made sure to offer his apologies. It was an unforgettable gesture from No. 17.
“First, I want to shout out Carson for making this hat,” Allen said, “I did not wear it on the walk in today, I did not see it in my locker. Hand up, I take accountability for that. But, got it on now, thanks, Carson.”
Allen made history in the win against the Chiefs, but it didn’t matter to him
With two rushing touchdowns in the contest, Allen cemented his place in NFL history. He now has the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in NFL history, an incredible accomplishment for the reigning MVP. However, when asked about it, he deferred to his teammates and the game plan.
“That means I’m doing my job, that’s all it means,” Allen said.
It was a bounce-back performance by the team, especially in the passing offense. The franchise quarterback was candid after the game, admitting that sometimes quarterbacks just know when they’re on, and Allen could feel it early in the matchup.
“Yeah, you know to be candid. Yeah, you feel it in your mechanics sometimes, or at least I do, I can’t speak for any other quarterback,” Allen said. “Early on in the game, you know when you’re, I call it slotted, where the ball is coming out of your hand as good as you really want it. I’ve been working really hard over the last couple weeks trying to get back into that feeling and felt like I had a good feeling early on in this game.”
Allen gives the Chiefs their flowers after the game
Allen put everything into perspective, giving the Chiefs their flowers while admitting that there’s more work to do. The hunger and obsession to get better were clear with his comments.
“I mean, yeah, they’re the pinnacle of what you want your franchise to be, they’ve been that for the last eight years.” Allen said. “Anytime you get a chance to play the best and you can come away with a victory, you’re going to be feeling pretty good. There’s a lot to be happy about, but like I alluded to earlier this week, it’s never as good, never as bad as you think. Got some stuff we got to clean up, we’ll watch this one tomorrow and get rid of it.”
Much like the rest of the fan base, Allen was holding his breath in the closing moments of the game. 13 seconds still pops up in my head anytime I see anything more than that time left on the clock. Mahomes can beat you when you least expect it, something Allen alluded to after the game.
He was asked whether he took a breath in the last 22 seconds, knowing that the fan base most likely did not during that final series for the Chiefs.
“Oh, absolutely not,” Allen said. “No. Again, that’s Mahomes; everybody knows his greatness and what he’s meant to the sport. You never know what’s going to happen with the ball in his hands, but I’m proud of how our defense played there at the end.”
QB1 finished his day with a career-high in completion percentage with three total touchdowns and over 250 yards of total offense, an elite performance by the reigning MVP, who wound up outdueling Mahomes in front of an excited fan base. Bills Mafia deserves their flowers for the impact they had on the game.
The Buffalo quarterback’s poise and humility continue to define his legacy in Buffalo. Whether it’s setting records, lifting up his teammates, or showing heart off the field, the Bills’ franchise quarterback once again reminded everyone why he’s the heartbeat of the team, and of Bills Mafia.
