Josh Allen has heartwarming reunion at Bills practice that put everything into perspective for the reigning MVP
Take a bow, Josh Allen.
In February of this year, Josh Allen was named to the University of Wyoming Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame for the Class of 2025. The gunslinger, who was told he’d never make it at the college level, and then told he would never make it to the professional level, is proving the critics wrong while simultaneously getting his flowers in a big way.
The Bills quarterback had a heartwarming reunion as his former Wyoming coach Craig Bohl surprised the QB1 at practice. Allen was all smiles, reconnecting with the man who gave him a chance, and as well all know, the rest is history.
Bohl made himself available to the media following practice, offering some high praise on what Allen was able to accomplish during his time with Wyoming.
Bohl began, “He transformed the state. Wyoming had enjoyed a proud history of great football way, way back. But we had fallen on hard times. He made people in the state proud and gave them a real sense of what we can accomplish. For him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame is certainly right, and I’m happy for him.”
While it may not be apparent in Buffalo, living in Colorado and just a few hours from the University of Wyoming, I have seen firsthand the number of Wyoming fans who are now Bills fans because of what Allen was able to accomplish.
Admittedly, it usually follows with a brief bit of disappointment that I am not from Wyoming, but our mutual love for Josh Allen bleeds through, and it always makes for an incredible experience.
Bills Mafia is a different breed, and with Josh Allen joining the Bills, a flock of new fans came with him to Buffalo.
Allen put everything into perspective
Allen himself spoke to the media on the impact Bohl made on his career and what it means for him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Immediately after practice, Allen was beaming with pride when asked about his college career and former head coach.
On what being inducted into the Hall of Fame means for Allen and his career, QB1 put everything into perspective: “It’s very cool. To be remembered there, Coach Bohl and the University of Wyoming, obviously, I wouldn’t be here without them. It’s very cool to be honored by something so close and near to my heart. It’s a pretty cool achievement.”
Allen’s former HC has a hilarious response
Bohl, being Allen’s former head coach, opened up on some of the hilarious challenges he faced with the superstar QB. While Allen has improved his sliding over the past few seasons, early on in his career Allen would put his shoulder down and try to run through you.
It’s still part of his game, but Allen has learned to pick and choose his moments. It seems as though it was a struggle for the Wyoming head coach even during Allen’s college days.
The former Wyoming head coach offered, “I can’t tell you how many times I talked to him about those things.” Bohl spoke with McDermott and Beane, and he believes the team has worked that out of Allen’s game (for the most part). “I think they worked that out of him a little bit. But I cringe when I see him jump over a guy or something, just maybe slide? I think that’s part of his greatness.”
Allen has already cemented himself into one Hall of Fame, and if he continues on his trajectory, we have a feeling that it won’t be the only Hall of Fame that the franchise QB gets inducted into.
He’s battled more than his fair share of adversity over his college and NFL career and took it all in stride. If Josh Allen is happy, we’re happy.
