Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen finds incredible way to give back, and millions will get a chance to see it before Week 1 vs. Baltimore Ravens
A classy move from the franchise quarterback.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was given a new role this offseason, Director of Billustration, which expands a New Era partnership that’s aimed at improving the community. With that, Allen became the first ambassador to get an investment stake in the deal. The new partnership has Allen designing and unveiling nine new hats throughout the NFL season, including in the upcoming Week 1 contest against the Baltimore Ravens.
These hats, created by children at Oishei Children’s Hospital, will be worn and signed by Allen and then put up for auction immediately after the game, with all proceeds going directly toward supporting families across Buffalo through the Patricia Allen Fund. Adam Schefter broke the news on the first edition, with many of the Bills Mafia having the same reaction. Allen is the best.
Patricia Allen Fund created by the Bills Mafia
The fund began after the Bills Mafia’s incredible act of generosity. Ahead of the Nov. 8, 2020, win against the Seattle Seahawks, Allen tragically lost his grandmother. News spread after the contest, and once the fan base got word of the news, they started donating in $17 increments to the hospital.
Bills Mafia began a movement that’s impacted so many, with over $1 million being donated by the end of 2020.
“In support of Josh’s grandmother, fans began donating in $17 increments to Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH), a cause close to the quarterback’s heart,” the website reads. “Donations quickly surpassed milestone amounts within the first week. By the end of 2020, the amount surpassed $1 million, and the story was shared throughout the national media, reaching over half a billion impressions. Donations spanned the world, coming from all 50 states and 10 different countries.
As reported on their official website, “The establishment of the Patricia Allen Fund in support of critical care at Oishei Children’s Hospital has evolved into a community of donors and supporters all uniting for one reason – getting kids back to being kids.”
Josh Allen gets some love on social media
An incredible act from the franchise quarterback was shown with more than a little love from the beloved fan base on social media. Fans quickly pointed out their beliefs that Allen is an MVP both on and off the field.
Allen has had a busy week ahead of the regular season opener, as on Friday, his new brand deal with New Balance was announced. A decision that came with family and community at the forefront, once again.
Kickoff is set for Sept. 7, where Allen will take the field wearing the new hat, along with his new gold shield on his jersey, commemorating his MVP campaign. It’ll be a special day, and one of celebration, as the fan base enjoys their last home opener in the current stadium. After the franchise quarterback spent the entire preseason watching from the sidelines, it’ll be great to see him back in action.
