Josh Allen’s injury update adds an unexpected wrinkle to the beginning of Joe Brady’s tenure with the Bills
Breathe easy, Bills Mafia. Josh Allen is going to be alright.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is going to be okay; that’s the biggest thing to understand from the latest update regarding the best player in all of football. Allen showed up to the introductory press conference for new head coach Joe Brady, causing quite the stir across Bills Mafia. He showed up with crutches and a walking boot, stoking fear in the hearts of the fan base.
General manager Brandon Beane provided an update, while cutting himself off mid-answer about Allen’s injury. He was discussing why Allen was brought in to the meetings, and immediately interjected that Allen had his foot fixed.
“That would be silly for us to select that,” Beane said. “But when we had this last, like Josh went and had his foot fixed, he was not able to, you know, finish, but we didn’t even have him in the process where we were discussing pros and cons of each candidate.”
In the press conference discussing former head coach Sean McDermott’s firing, Beane opened up that Allen would need a procedure done on his foot.
It’s now confirmed that he did, in fact, get the work done.
Fortunately, we got another update from Allen himself on the injury, and an additional one from Adam Schefter on the injury and what it means for the timeline for his return. Schefter’s report claims that it was a procedure for a fifth-metatarsal avulsion, with a recovery time of only 8-10 weeks. This means that Allen will be more than ready once OTAs roll around.
Josh Allen opens up on his injured foot and what it means moving forward
“Not an ideal situation, painful throughout the weeks,” Allen said about the injury.
The superstar quarterback also claimed that if Buffalo won against the Denver Broncos, he would find a way to play in the AFC Championship game. A true warrior both on and off the field.
“I’m not even lying, if we had to play a game this week, I would find a way to play,” Allen said.
Allen reaggravated his foot injury in the win against the Cleveland Browns and then went on to play some fantastic football over the course of the next several weeks, all while dealing with a broken bone in his foot. Once again, Allen is one of one in the National Football League.
The takeaway is simple: Josh Allen did what Josh Allen always does. He played through pain, put the team first, and then handled his business the moment the season ended.
The injury isn’t a long-term concern, the timeline lines up perfectly with the offseason program, and Buffalo’s franchise quarterback will be right where he needs to be when it matters.
Bills Mafia can exhale, QB1 is fine, and the rest of the league has been officially warned once again.
