Bills’ Josh Allen wastes no time with his own injury update after concerns grew about his availability for Sunday vs Eagles
Bills Mafia can breathe a little easier.
The Buffalo Bills had quite the scare during the win against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16.
Late in the first half, Allen scrambled away from pressure and gave himself up at the one-yard line. Afterwards, you could tell that the reigning MVP was in pain. He left the field before halftime to be examined by trainers and ultimately returned in the second half, easing the minds of the Bills Mafia. Without Josh Allen, this team would be in dire straits.
Head coach Sean McDermott ruled Allen out of practice during the team’s walkthrough on Tuesday, once again stoking fears that the franchise quarterback might not play Sunday. While Allen told reporters immediately after the win that he’s fine, there was still concern.
Allen spoke with the media and provided his own update on his injury. Needless to say, it will be difficult to keep him off the field on Sunday.
“Feels good. Feels good. I’m ready to go,” Allen told reporters on Tuesday.
Allen’s status is the clear headliner, but he wasn’t the only key contributor missing from Buffalo’s walkthrough as the team opened its Week 17 preparations.
Handful of players don’t practice on Tuesday
With several players missing the walkthrough, it once again stoked fear in the hearts of Bills Mafia that some of these guys wouldn’t play Sunday. It was just a walkthrough, and the team will provide an official injury report later on Wednesday.
Ahead of the walkthrough, McDermott told reporters that defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, kicker Matt Prater, safety Jordan Poyer, defensive tackle DaQuan Jones, tight end Dalton Kincaid, cornerback Cam Lewis, and defensive end Joey Bosa also would not practice.
With a full practice schedule ahead and the official injury report yet to be released, there’s no reason for panic just yet. Allen sounded confident and ready to go; the missed work came during a walkthrough, and the Bills have time to see how everyone responds as the week progresses.
Until proven otherwise, it appears Buffalo’s most important weapon is trending in the right direction heading toward Sunday.
