‘It’s my turn to give back’ — Bills’ Josh Allen announces life-changing news ahead of Week 1 vs. Ravens
It’s a great day to be a fan of Josh Allen.
The drought years weren’t fun, but Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen made that all worth it. Since arriving in Buffalo, he’s ascended to one of the very best at his position across the league. He’s not just a household name in Western New York, but across the NFL. The reigning MVP is making waves ahead of the Week 1 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens with a bit of a life change. Allen is joining the New Balance family in a move that’s been speculated for weeks now.
“I’m proud to share that I’ve joined the New Balance family, a brand that, like Firebaugh, is built on family, community, and authenticity,” Allen wrote. “My parents, the greatest role models I could ask for, built their lives on those principles and raised my siblings and me the same way. So, when New Balance asked me to come on board, it felt like coming home.”
Adam Schefter shared the news that QB1 officially signed an endorsement deal with the brand. Leave it up to Allen to make us emotional from a simple letter, but he explained his reasoning behind the decision, and it struck close to home. All offseason, Allen could be seen wearing the New Balance Prodigy cleats, which were a telltale sign that something was brewing behind the scenes. Nevertheless, it’s an incredible day for Allen, who aims to give back to the place that raised him.
“Together, we are making a commitment to Firebaugh to help fund its community sports program in the hopes of providing access to sports, regardless of ability to pay, to help young athletes access sports and chase their dreams,” Allen wrote. “Whether you’re a kid just picking up a football for the first time or a high schooler grinding through two-a-days, we’re here for you, cheering you on from afar, from Boston, to Buffalo, to Firebaugh. Because Firebaugh raised me. And now, it’s my turn to give back.”
Josh Allen shows love for Firebaugh, California, in New Balance announcement
While Allen will always have love for Buffalo and the Bills Mafia, his home will forever be Firebaugh, California. He expressed that beautifully in his letter, seriously — who is cutting onions in here?
“I’ve been lucky enough to play in some of the biggest stadiums in the world, in front of the biggest crowds, but no place means more to me than Firebaugh, California,” Allen wrote. “It’s my home, and where my family built our life. It’s where I first learned to throw a football.”
Growing up on a farm was no easy task, and Allen discussed what the early stages of life taught him, all while trying to hone his craft.
“I still remember those early mornings on the farm, before school, before practice, before the NFL dream ever felt real,” Allen wrote. “I was out there working with my dad. It wasn’t glamorous, but it taught me everything I needed to know about grit, discipline and the value of hard work. My siblings and I were always side by side, sometimes racing to finish chores, sometimes just trying to stay awake. Those memories, and those bonds, shaped me as much as the work did.”
Ahead of the regular season, Allen shared some life-changing news with his fans and the world, and we have a feeling this won’t be the only time we hear about QB1 giving back to various communities across the country. Taking a beat to make sure everyone understands the weight of the situation, we are all celebrating with Allen, not for Allen, and he wants to make that clear.
QB1 gives his flowers to his fans after New Balance endorsement
“From the Friday night lights at Firebaugh High to the roar of game days in Buffalo, you’ve stuck with me. Through the grind, the setbacks, and the quiet moments when I wasn’t sure anyone was watching, you were. You cheered for me when I was sending out my highlight tapes, hoping someone would notice. And you celebrated with me when I was named NFL MVP. That honor belongs to all of us.”
All love, always, from QB1.
