Bills’ Josh Allen walks away with a huge offseason victory that not even Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, or Joe Burrow can claim

Without playing a single snap, quarterback Josh Allen finds himself front and center in the national spotlight for all the right reasons. He didn’t even need to actually say anything to be thrust into the position, once again. He’s a former MVP quarterback who was a few plays away from making the AFC Championship game. Brandin Cooks caught that ball. I’ll die on this hill.

Nevertheless, Daniel Jeremiah was speaking with Dave Dameshek about who they believe to be the top quarterbacks in the NFL, and to no surprise, Allen found himself at the top of his list.

Not Joe Burrow, not Patrick Mahomes, not Lamar Jackson, Joshua Patrick Allen.

“Josh would be number one for me,” Jeremiah said. “I just think he’s the most physically gifted of all these guys, and I don’t think that roster was in great shape last year.”

Josh Allen ranks No. 1 on the top quarterback list

One of the dumbest arguments ahead of the playoffs was that it was Allen’s year to win it all, that somehow there were no excuses for No. 17. Instead of focusing on the fact that players like Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, and Joe Burrow didn’t do enough to take their teams to the playoffs, the national media instead made this really outrageous narrative surrounding Allen.

“Everybody kept saying, ‘This was his shot, this was his time. You know, those other quarterbacks, no Lamar, you didn’t have to worry about Burrow, you didn’t have to worry about Mahomes. This was his shot.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, but his roster wasn’t as stacked as you would hope to be in that position either.’ I would still have him number one on the list in terms of carrying the team,” Jeremiah said.

Call it what you want, spin it however you need to, but the people who know football aren’t confused. Josh Allen isn’t just in the conversation; he is the conversation. And if Buffalo gives him just a little more help in 2026, that “his year” talk might not sound so ridiculous next time.
