A win is a win is a win.

The Buffalo Bills pulled out a few key stops and walked out of Cleveland with a victory, keeping their playoff hopes alive. At the end of the day, it’s hard to win a football game, and Buffalo continued its dominance in December.

Quarterback Josh Allen went down with a scary injury at the end of the first half, but returned and played the rest of the game. The Bills Mafia breathed a sigh of relief after seeing their quarterback go down but return to the field.

Josh Allen has a special postgame message after win vs. the Browns

While it wasn’t a Superman-like performance from Allen, he helped lead the team to victory, improving the Bills to 11-4. The reigning MVP finished his day going 12-for-19 with 130 yards while adding seven carries for 17 yards on the ground. He had no touchdowns but also no turnovers.

Immediately after the game, Allen opened his postgame press conference with a message to anyone doubting the team or thinking that the win was less than because of how close it was.

“Just again, we feel like we’re in playoff mode now,” Allen said. “It’s just find a way to win a football game. It wasn’t, obviously, it wasn’t the prettiest way we can win. (We) got some stuff to clean up, but we’ll take a victory.”

Browns made second-half adjustments

Things weren’t going Buffalo’s way in the second half after running roughshod over the Browns in the early stages of the game. Running back James Cook had 100 yards rushing on nine carries with two touchdowns in the first half, but Cleveland made some adjustments in the second half.

“They get paid too on that side to make adjustments and make plays,” Allen said. “I feel like, starting with me, I just didn’t make enough plays, especially in that second half. Taking the boneheaded sack right before half, not giving us a chance to double dip, so, lotta stuff to clean up, a lot to learn from but we’ll take it.”

To no one’s surprise, Allen blamed himself for the inefficiencies on offense. Both units, offense and defense, have plenty to clean up, as Allen said, but still found a way to get a win. However, even with their issues, when Buffalo needed to run the ball at the end of the game, it did so with ease.

“They were making plays, they found something that was working for them,” Allen said. “At the end of the day, though, last drive, knew we were running it, we had to run it, and we did and got the first.”

That’s what separates good teams from contenders. Even on a day when the offense stalled, the adjustments didn’t come easily, and nothing felt smooth, the Bills still closed when it mattered most.

December wins don’t need to be pretty; they just need to count. Buffalo did just enough, leaned on its run game late, and walked out with another notch in the win column as playoff football rapidly approaches.
