The Buffalo Bills have been hit hard by the injury bug, which shouldn’t surprise the Bills Mafia or anyone keeping tabs on the team. Several players have been lost for the season, and week-to-week injuries have made it so several key playmakers have missed substantial time.

In the loss against the Houston Texans, the team was banged up. The offensive line had injuries to both Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown, and even quarterback Josh Allen went down in the contest, writhing in pain and having the fan base holding their breath.

Ahead of practice on Wednesday, head coach Sean McDermott opened up on a slew of injuries for key players, including Allen and some other weapons on the offense. Fortunately for Allen, while he is going to appear on the injury report, he’s a full participant in practice while dealing with general soreness. After being sacked eight times, it’s no wonder his body is a little beat up.

McDermott even provided an ominous update of sorts on tight end Dalton Kincaid, saying “there’s a chance” that he’ll be available for the Week 13 matchup, despite not practicing on Wednesday. Rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston was limited in the concussion protocol, and defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis was also limited on Wednesday.

Outside of Dawkins, Brown, and Kincaid, the team was also down wide receiver Curtis Samuel and linebacker Terrel Bernard, all of whom were unavailable to practice on Wednesday and putting into doubt whether they will be available to compete on Sunday during a must-win game for Buffalo.

The Bills need to bounce back in a big way and find a way to get into the win column in an attempt to keep their playoff dreams alive. The latest update from McDermott is a worrying one in that more than a handful of key guys could be out for a game that Buffalo simply has to win.

If Buffalo wants to steady the season and keep its postseason hopes alive, it’ll need healthier bodies on both sides of the ball. The good news is that Allen appears ready to go, despite dealing with some general soreness. The bad news is that a chunk of the roster remains in flux, and the Bills may have to gut out a must-win game with a patchwork lineup once again.
