The Buffalo Bills completed their comeback from three games down in the AFC East in Week 18, defeating the Miami Dolphins for their fifth consecutive win and their fourth consecutive AFC East crown.
It wasn't handed to them on a silver platter, though, as the Dolphins, in spite of injury, made life very difficult for Josh Allen and the Bills' offense. In spite of playing without their top two edge rushers, Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb, the Dolphins sent a ton of pressure at Allen, and it was working.
While Vic Fangio is usually known for not sending pressure, he went totally against his own philosophy against the Bills. As Ted Nguyen of The Athletic pointed out, the Dolphins blitzed on one third of Allen's dropbacks, one of which led to a red zone interception thrown to Eli Apple.
Buffalo eventually adjusted, Allen especially, who finished 30-of-38 for 359 yards and two touchdowns. That said, the pressure phased the Bills and their offense. This could be a blueprint for teams going forward in the playoffs in hopes of slowing down the Bills- send consistent pressure early and often at Allen and hope it leads to turnovers. Should that happen, and the opponent capitalize on the opportunities, that could spell trouble for the Bills.
