Bills’ Josh Allen opens up on special message he gave his teammates right before game-winning drive against the Jaguars
Josh Allen didn’t hold back with his comments postgame.
The Buffalo Bills walked into Jacksonville and pulled out the victory for the team’s first road playoff win since 1992. It had all the makings of an instant classic, with four fourth-quarter lead changes. Quarterback Josh Allen, once again, put on his Superman cape in a big game. Playoff Allen is a different monster, and he put the league on notice with his performance on Sunday.
The team didn’t blink, and it came down to Allen having the ball in the fourth quarter with a chance to win the game. He led the team down the field, thanks to a huge pickup by wide receiver Brandin Cooks, before Allen tush pushed his way to the end zone. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw an interception in the closing moments, securing the win for Buffalo.
Fans were on the edge of their seats, watching Allen slice up the Jaguars’ defense on the final drive before ultimately getting his third touchdown of the day. While speaking to the media after the game, Allen opened up on a special message he gave his teammates before the final, game-winning drive.
“Just I love ya’ll. I got you, you got me,” Allen said.
Josh Allen keeps it cool with his postgame message
Allen finished the day going 28-for-35 for 273 yards while adding 11 carries for 33 yards on the ground and a total of three touchdowns with no turnovers. Remember when Allen was called a “turnover machine?” Despite the thrilling victory, Allen and the team are maintaining focus on the next game.
“To me, it doesn’t mean a whole lot. Means that we were good with our communication on offense, defense made plays obviously,” Allen said. “Now have a chance to go do it again.”
For much of the season, Buffalo has had to battle through adversity. It helped prepare the Bills for the biggest moment of the season, something that wasn’t taken lightly by Allen and company.
“We feel like we’ve been in situations like this, and now every game presents itself in a different way,” Allen said. “But to understand the moment, to not ride the wave, again, that was stuff that we’ve learned throughout the entire season. We were able to utilize that and use it today.”
If New England beats the Chargers, Buffalo will travel to Denver to take on the Broncos in the second round.
No matter where the road leads next, Buffalo proved on Sunday that it won’t be intimidated by the moment or the setting. With Josh Allen at the controls and a team built to handle chaos, the Bills showed they’re ready for whatever the postseason throws their way.
