Bills’ Josh Palmer kicked off the thrilling comeback victory vs. Ravens with 1 simple question from the sideline
An unforgettable sideline interaction.
The Bills Mafia is still celebrating the Week 1 victory against the Baltimore Ravens, in which Josh Allen put on his Superman cape late in the fourth quarter and helped drive his team to victory. The 15-point comeback could well be the best game in the 2025 NFL season when it’s all said and done. However, for Buffalo on offense, it wasn’t all smooth sailing.
Henry McKenna from FOX Sports reported that on the sideline, before the fourth-quarter comeback, wide receiver Josh Palmer asked fellow pass-catcher Khalil Shakir during the first half when the team was going to show up.
“OK, so when do we normally start to pick it up?” Palmer asked. “You know, like the Bills I’ve been watching.”
That’s when Shakir had the mic drop moment. Buffalo was down big, and all hope had felt lost. However, for Shakir, he knew what the team had in Allen.
“Usually towards the end of the second half,” Shakir said to Palmer. “We’ve got 17.”
Palmer shows up big in the fourth quarter vs. the Ravens
Palmer was one of the Bills’ offseason acquisitions in an attempt to bolster their firepower on offense. In just one contest, he made his presence felt. Palmer was front and center during the comeback efforts after snagging a crucial catch late in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory.
After being called an “uninspiring choice” in an article where ESPN ranked all 32 NFL teams’ offseason moves, he was more than a little inspiring in his first game as a Buffalo Bill. He finished his day with five catches for 61 yards.
It wasn’t just Palmer, though, as Shakir also made an impact in the contest. Being targeted nine times, Shakir hauled in six catches for 64 yards in the victory.
Never count out the Bills with Josh Allen at quarterback
Of course, it goes without saying that Allen was otherworldly in the victory. If you took just his fourth-quarter stats, he beat out a handful of Week 1 quarterbacks across the league. Again, if you took just his fourth-quarter stats, it was better than some of his peers throughout their entire games.
He was 16 of 21 in the fourth with 251 passing yards and three total touchdowns. It’s not hyperbole to say that Allen had one of the best fourth quarters from any quarterback ever. In terms of just passing yards, it was the most since Boomer Esiason, who had 252 yards in the fourth quarter in 1996.
Allen became the franchise’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns during the game, adding a feather in his cap to an already impressive performance.
Shakir was right, with No. 17, they’re never fully out of a game. An incredible Week 1 victory, and there’s plenty more football left in the regular season.
